Community Volunteers

We think we actually experience the sacred in many ways besides formal worship. One very important way is simply through helping others. There is no test of membership or belief for someone to serve others through most of the direct ministries at the Open Table. These include:

  • Organizing and distributing food to over 400 households a month in our area through Project Outreach.

  • Organizing and delivery of small meals and warm clothes to people on the street who need them through Mobile Loaves and Fishes.

  • Knitting and making things to give away.

  • Organizing and running a low-cost “Open Closet” resale shop for clothing and housewares, that also raises major support for on-going work in many areas at the OTC.

  • Serving the community in multiple ways and learning new skills as an unpaid (or sometimes paid) supervised volunteer and “Community Steward”.

  • Working in various arts & music in worship and beyond.

  • Organizing for social justice and change.

And much more.
