Know
as the "The Red Socks Designated Knitters Charity Knitting
Team" or, just the Red Socks for short, the Red Socks is
a fellowship group of people who are knitting (and crocheting)
for ourselves, or creating gifts for our families. We also make
prayer shawls, hats, mittens and neck gaiters for the local (Sackett
Street) School children. Additionally, we make sweaters, socks,
scarves, mittens, and hats for an orphanage in Kazakhstan. We
also knit baby hats and booties for Woman and Infants hospital,
hats and scarves for the homeless, and someone even knitted a
bandage for a leprosy victim in Viet Nam. This humble craft can
help in so many ways, and the meetings are fun too. The first
and third Wednesday of each month, in the center Sunday school
room at 1520 Broad Street, Providence, RI 02905. We start at 6:00
and end at 8:00 PM. Beginners and experts welcome! Some first
class teachers are here to help if you need it. Call Wendy at
401 941-2212 if you're interested in joining, or just show up
- and bring a friend.
