Basketball League

In the fall of 2009, damage struck the Open Table of Christ's Building. The gym at OTC was mandated to shut down. Because it housed many ministries at OTC, this was a major setback.

OTC is houses the 3rd largest food pantry in the state and the gym served as the storage for the donated food and supplies. In response to the need of the food pantry, the members of the OTC made a difficult decision to remove the pews and have the food distribution brought into the sanctuary.

The clip to the left was seen by Mark Votta of Kenvo Floor Co. in Exeter, RI. Mark has done floors for NBA basketball teams and was moved to very generously offer to replace the floor in the gymnasium. When all was said and done, materials and labor that were donated totaled over $25,000.00!

Because of Mark's generous support and desire to partner with us, the OTC basketball league started the following fall and currently has over 80 boys and girls enrolled in the league.

The purpose of the Basketball program is to allow children an opportunity to share their common interest in basketball by enjoying fellowship and competition. There are regular practices and weekly basketball games. We know that through the common interest of basketball, relationships can be formed and strengthened as members of the community participate together.

Our special thanks go out to George, Robert, Clarice and the others who mak
e this possible. Because of their efforts we are becoming more and more of a community.
